Why is MBST important for athletes?
“During a sporting career extreme stresses over time lead to a series of small cartilage defects and accumulated damage of the tissue”
Application MBST’s is especially important in the preparation of athletes, as it significantly reduces the risk of injuries and prevents the later development of osteoarthritis, which is very common in former athletes. During a sporting career extreme stresses over time lead to a series of small cartilage defects and accumulated damage of the tissue. Therefore, it is important for athletes to regularly, once or twice a year, undergo MBST therapy treatments, especially for those joints that suffer extreme stress, such as knees and lumbal-sacral spine. Also known is the case of skier Herman Mayer who was successfully rehabilitated by this method and after serious injuries sustained in an accident able to win medals once again.
From our own experience, we can say that for a large number of young people recreational sports and training are significant parts of life but due to chronic problems with joints and bones they are often not able to fully devote to their passion.
Most often they are then faced with a very narrow selection of treatment options, and a small number of people at an early age and at their prime incline to risky and expensive operations, which mostly do not solve the cause of problems.
In such cases, the ideal solution is therapeutic treatment of magnetic resonance – MBST, here in the K-Centre clinic where addressing the underlying causes of problems and successful physical rehabilitation offers our patients a new opportunity to enjoy the sport and an active living.
Adria K-centar, Biograd na moru
We are proud to introduce our new facility located on the Adriatic coastline in the city of Biograd na moru. From now on, our patients, professional and recreational athletes can visit us here in central Dalmatia, and be part of a unique and highly specialized rehabilitation and recovery medical program.
The therapies offered in Adria K-center include Isokinetic dynamometry and therapy, MBST, physical therapy, sup-specialists’ care and individual approach using unique ‘BAR’ method in dealing with chronic bone and tissue diseases.
“The most recent scientific studies and clinical experience have confirmed the importance of muscle contraction to the bone and the overall quality of the skeleton”
Isokinetic dynamometry is well-known method of measurement based on computer readings of individual muscle groups which can accurately determine the biomechanical imbalance and certain exercises, all on the same device. The computer adjusts to the committed load measurement, achieving regular bio-mechanical effects on bone and cartilage caused by muscle contraction.
The latest scientific studies and clinical experience have confirmed the importance of muscle contraction to the bone and the overall quality of the skeleton, as well as the interaction between muscle and bone cells, which gives a special meaning to biomechanics in the development and treatment of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that a good bio-mechanical balance is a prerequisite of a healthy skeleton. Because of this, isokinetic dynamometry we had already used in sports medicine is now gaining importance as one of the key methods in the prevention and treatment of osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, and together with the MBST gives us very effective tool in fighting all musculoskeletal diseases.
